Kirkwood Family Reunion and Grandparents 60th Wedding Anniversary Celebration - July 31-Aug 2

This past week has been a whirlwind of travel, birthday festivities, and soccer.  I will attempt to catch up my blogging by starting with an amazing long weekend with my dad's side of the family.  With our family growing and moving (as of this fall our family will span Colorado, Michigan, Minnesota and London), this may be one of the last times everyone is in one spot.

This gathering was also special as we were celebrating the 60th wedding anniversary of my grandparents, rejoicing in the love, loyalty, and commitment to family they exemplify and have now passed down to 3 generations, even in the midst of trials such as my grandpa's current progressing Alzheimer's.  The love, commitment, and positive attitude my Grandma demonstrates in the midst of this is truly amazing.

Anniversary Dinner

Special music for my grandparents

The "original" five - my Grandma and Grandpa and their three kids: my Uncle Scott, my dad, and my Aunt Lynda.
We all drove and met in Rockford, IL, at a hotel, and spent most of our time at the hotel catching up with one another in the outdoor courtyard

Chatting...

pizza and chatting

Loved chatting with all 5 of my girl cousins!
 Swimming...

Playing games, and laughing!

A charades/catch phrase type of game...

do the Y-M-C-A!
After church on Sunday, we went out to brunch with everyone, celebrating again, these two and their amazing 60 years!

Toast!
One of my favorite parts of the weekend was catching up with my cousin Heather from Colorado.  We hadn't met each others' littlest ones yet, and at 3 kids a piece it was fun to catch up!  Here makes up the 6 great grandkids on this side of the extended family - Summer (almost 5), Colton (3), Lane (3), Larkyn (1), Elenora (7 months), and Coleman (1.5)
Thank you to my mom for all the pictures!!!  Here is a segway to the next few posts...

My grandma remembered that Summer's birthday was coming up and had a special gift ready for her!

A keyboard song book!

Thank you GiGi-ma and GiGi-pa!  Summer (and Colton!) have played with it quite a bit already!!
...And now, onto quite a few BIRTHDAY posts, as Summer is now FIVE!!! :-)

It was such a blessed weekend. You included two of my favorite pictures: Paul and Larkyn in the pool and the gang playing pictionary charades. :)
