Kirkwood Weekend (Milwaukee)

Prince Fielder, first baseman for the Brewers, says he hopes to spend the rest of his career in Milwaukee. Mainly because it's the only city in America where he's considered thin.

Zing!  Sorry, I had to start off the post with a Wisconsin joke....

Yes, we spent the second weekend in a row in the land that gave us Brett Favre.  We met the Kirkwood side of Kelly's family in Milwaukee for a long weekend.

Highlights included...
Long car rides...

The Safe House (it just wouldn't be right to show you the outside - finding it is part of the fun).  And apparently the password is not "Hi, yes, we have a reservation for 17 for Kirkwood" :)

A Brewers Game (Who have been to the playoffs only once since 1982...another reason MN is better than WI!)

The Strawberry Festival in Cedarburg

More food at the Pasta Shoppe

A little walk along a pier on Lake Michigan

And finally...more food!  This time at a local joint named Culvers (yes, I know, they are everywhere).

I also had a lot of fun taking some artistic pictures during the weekend.  The Domes, as well as the game and the pier provided some interesting scenery.  All in all, it was another busy, but great weekend!

Wisconsin Weekend

So we spent last weekend in Wisconsin (no, I couldn't hold my breath the entire time).  What was the occasion that brought us to Packer-Land?  The Annual Obermayer Family Weekend!

I guess I really don't have anything against Wisconsin As much as I strongly dislike the Packers, I enjoyed the weekend in the Wisconsin Dells.

The Highlights:

Meeting Cruz Emerson Baum

As you can see over on the Baum Blog, Rowan has a new brother (Rowan and Cruz pictures stolen from their blog).

And he's pretty cool.

But then again, so is Rowan.

Celebrating

Kendall celebrated his 16th birthday, which was celebrated at Uno's.  Everybody watch out!  He turned 16!

Kendall and his gifts

Like I said, watch out!

There was also a different kind of birthday celebration - a shower for Kel to celebrate our upcoming newborn!  From what I've heard, they had a great time (obviously I was not around to eat girly food and play the shower games enjoy the shower). (rest of pics taken by Jill Kirkwood)

And finally, we celebrated Father's Day.  And yes, I celebrated.  :)

Enjoying the Fun of the Dells

Waterparks - including the Howlin' Tornado (in which we just about lost Kendall)

Bowling - obviously, the guys beat the girls.  After barely reaching 100 in my first game, I started the 2nd game with 4 strikes and a spare.  And then our time ran out.  And yes, Kelly did a great job bowling, even at 7.5 months pregnant! (if you're bored, check out the "Bowling" link for a cheezy promo video for Knucklehead's)

Mini-Golf - pregnant women are said to be better at golf than when they are not pregnant (supposedly something to do with the pregnancy forcing them to actually improve their swing).  Apparently, it also applies to mini-golf!  For the first time in my life, I lost in mini-golf to Kel.  Hard to compete with all her holes-in-one!

The Ducks - during the shower, us guys headed out for a little ride of what have made the Dells famous.  The Amphibious Ducks.

In the end, even thought it was Wisconsin, it was a fun weekend with nice weather and a lot of great people!

Nursery Update

Well, the nursery is pretty well done.  It looks AWESOME (and believe me, I had very little to do with it - this is Paul, by the way).  Kelly did such an amazing job - she made the pillows on the closet out of extra valence materials, she painted the canvas pictures on the wall to match the animals in the set, she reupholstered the chair and footstool to match the nursery and added many more decorative touches.  Here's a sample pic - to see the rest, check out the album on our Picasa site by clicking here.

A Weekend at the Lake

This past weekend, Kel and I headed up to West Battle Lake, where my parents and grandma have trailers parked at Sunset Beach Resort.  We've been very busy over the last couple of months (Kelly with wrapping up the school year, me with studying and working), so it was fun to get up to the lake for a little fishing, conversing, and fun.

You can check out pics from the weekend on my parents Picasa album here.  I've included a few samples.  No Muskies this weekend, but for those who haven't heard, we had quite the experience last Labor Day.  On another note, lest you be worried, we did drive the half hour back to my parents house on Saturday to watch the USA-England World Cup game - you know I wouldn't miss that one (in case you missed it, here are some highlights - with a twist)!

Happy Anniversary!

Today we celebrate our 3rd anniversary!  On June 16, 2007, I was blessed to marry the most beautiful girl in the world!

In some ways, it feels like we've been married for much longer than three years - and I mean that in only a positive way.  It's hard to remember life before we were married.  She's such an integral part of my life that it seems like I've known her forever.  In other ways, it seems like we were just recently married - I still get butterflies!

I can't wait to celebrate many more anniversaries with my wife - and going forward, we'll have someone else in our family to share it with (hard to believe she'll be 10-11 months old at this point next year!).

Welcome

Hey Everyone!

As you probably already know, we're adding another Tommerdahl to the family.  No, not Tucker (he's our dog - soon enough, he'll have his own web page here).

At some point on or near (hopefully) August 2nd, we're expecting our first child - a daughter - and we couldn't be more excited!

To help you all share in this exciting time, I've developed this blog (blog.tommerdahl.com), in conjunction with tommerdahl.com.  Between the two sites, I (we) hope to keep you updated on the joys (and inevitable frustrations) of our journey through parenthood!

If you'd like to receive updates, be sure to subscribe (on the right side of the blog).
