Halloween

This year all three kids had fun dressing up for activities at school and dance during the day, and then loved running around the neighborhood trick-or-treating at night!

At Southview, each class has a Fall Party, and then all the classes do a costume parade for the parents in the afternoon.  I was so excited that Colton's party was scheduled for before the parade and Summer's was scheduled for after, so I could help with both!

Colton's kindergarten class all dressed up.  Colton is front row, just left of center.

Colton had been planning to be a MN Loons soccer player for Halloween for a very long time!

At the party, I got to man the "bingo" station as the class rotated through various games and activities.  Then they got to make a spider out of oreos, twizzlers, and M&M's and eat it!

Summer's class didn't take a group photo (bummer!) so I just took this one of part of her class eating their apples and caramel at the party.  She is in the far right corner of the picture.  Her class, too, rotated through different stations.  I helped out as a Bingo caller and also running the game "Headbandz" for small groups of 2nd graders as they rotated through the stations.

Meanwhile, while Mommy and the kids were at school, Larkyn got to wear her costume to dance class!  (Thanks Grandpa K for taking her!)
When I saw how cold the weather was predicted to be (coldest Halloween in 10 years!), I quick ran to Goodwill yesterday and grabbed a superhero costume for Colton as a backup...his Loons jersey and shorts would likely not be warm enough!  Besides, I knew he would need a superhero costume for our Mother-Son community ed super hero party we are going to (put on by the same people as the Daddy-Daughter Dance) next weekend.  I chose "The Flash" costume, as it reminded me of Lightning McQueen.  Colton enjoyed running all over doing "fast" things and wore his costume all day after school yesterday and has soon as he got home from school today!  What boy doesn't love being a superhero?! :)

"Acting" out their costumes, haha!

We trick or treated for over an hour and the kids got tons of candy!

Family Pumpkin Carving

Grandma T let the kids each pick out a pumpkin last weekend, so we carved them this weekend!  Colton and Daddy tag teamed making an amazing award winning MN LOONS soccer pumpkin.  Larkyn and I worked on an owl.  Summer did her pumpkin all by herself this year!  We spent much of Sunday afternoon carving them, and then Summer asked if we could toast the seeds, so the kids spent a large chunk of time playing in the pumpkin goo ;) and separating the seeds for toasting ;).

Summer October Updates

October Random Photo Dump....SUMMER!

Soooo excited about her new heels...Summer practiced her posture with a book on her head for much of one afternoon!  She even asked Mommy if she could have "walking in heel lessons" from  her Auntie Kristin ;)

Summer is doing a fantastic job practicing her piano.  Daddy took this picture of us working on her recital piece, which she will play December 9th.

Summer and I planned a date with 5 of her girl friends and their moms to see the play Junie B Jones, based on a series of books written about a 1st grader named Junie B Jones.  It was fantastic!!!!!!

We all went out to dinner at Panera before the show

We bought "pillow seats" in the front row.

So silly!  What a fun night!
Summer loves to write.  She loves to journal.  Pretty much anywhere she goes she brings a journal to take notes on whatever we are doing.  Lately she has been asking to use my computer to type up poems.

Colton October Updates

October Random Photo Dump.... COLTON!

Big news is... Colton learned to tie his shoes!

He REALLY wanted these "soccer" type shoes just like Daddy has...and even chose them over a Lightning McQueen pair!!!

He learned to tie them in a day!  Ummm, is it just me, or is he suddenly looking old?!
Colton continues to love all things soccer, including the MN soccer team the Loons.  For his "Disguise the turkey so it doesn't get eaten" project at school he and Daddy worked as a team to disguise his turkey as a Loons player :)

Colton also continues to love all things science.  Grandpa K and Colton worked together to make a spectrometer?...out of a paper towel tub and a CD...when you at a light look through it, it divides the light into the different colors that make it up.

He loves to make the volcano with his science set.
For Colton's after school Mommy-Colton date this month, he picked to head to the library and play board games!

Colton has REALLY improved in his writing and suddenly LOVES it!  He will often be found at his desk in his room putting together words that he knows and sounding out words he doesn't to make notes for the family.  It is so cute!

(And he still loves Lightning McQueen!)

He wrote his numbers 1-102 just for fun!

Elmer the Elephant...Kindergarten project

Note from Colton: I love you. I hope you have a great day.  I am excited for the superhero party.

Note from Colton: Hi Summer, I hope we can play cars soon.  Good bye Summer!
It is so fun for me to see him gain such an interest in writing!  Thank you to his teacher Mrs. Davis!! :)
