Larkyn 6 months and first food!

Larkyn is half a year old today!  Her big news this month is that she learned to roll over and that she started solid foods.  Because our doctor recommends waiting until a baby is 6 months before feeding solids, we waited until this week to give her her first food: rice cereal mixed with breastmilk.  The kids had fun watching baby Summer's first rice cereal and baby Colton's first rice cereal in preparation of the big day!  Here are Larkyn's "first food" pictures and video:

"Hmmmm...What is this?"

"I'm not sure what I think about rice cereal, but I sure like my Daddy!"
Here is the video of her first rice cereal:

The last two days we have done two solid meals a day (lunch and dinner) and she is getting better about getting more in her tummy and less on her bib!  She especially loves to suck on the spoon, so if I keep the spoon in her mouth longer, more food goes in her tummy.  Tonight I steamed carrots (to go with Paul's amazing ribs in the smoker fyi!!) and blended them up so Larkyn could have some of our dinner too!  (I also froze quite a few "carrot cubes" for future meals just as I did with the other two kiddos.)  This "first carrot" video is pretty funny...

Larkyn is LOVING chewing on things this month.  Her favorite things are rings that Grandma and Grandpa K got her first Christmas.  She will immediately grasp and things to her mouth to chew on until she drops them.

She is still such a smiley, content baby
She loves to watch her brother and sister play from her spot in the exersaucer (they are quite entertaining!)

Larkyn's huge grin is so contageous - it literally stops me in my tracks to stare at her and I honestly feel so undeserving and blessed to be her Mommy!   I will be running around crazy helping big brother and big sister with everything from mealtime to potty time to playtime and Larkyn will be watching...and when I glance her direction she flashes her "you're the greatest ever" smile that makes me melt, slow down, and just enjoy her contagious joyful spirit.

Here is a little video of her little giggle - I just want to freeze these moments so I never forget them!!

Larkyn, it is an understatement for me to say you are SUCH a blessing to our family and I could not be any more grateful to be your Mommy!  I love you SO incredibly much!
