I've been planning for and praying about this day for around 6 months. After great advice from trusted friends, I determined that I would have a special date with Summer before 2nd grade to discuss important growing up topics so that Summer would have a godly, accurate, and positive experience having Mommy be her first source for some of these sensitive topics.
The fear of too much too soon often means we speak too little too late.

On Summer's 7th birthday, I told her I had a special devotional we would do together now that she was 7. This past week, I took her out for a special date to Caribou Coffee, where she chose hot chocolate to sip while we discussed God's amazing creation and creativity, how babies are made from both Mommy's and Daddy's, and how God gave a special gift to Mommy's and Daddy's that is special, wonderful, private, and to be enjoyed in the context of marriage. It was so important to me that she have a godly perspective on these topics that are so prevalent in our society today, and a positive common base for us to build upon as topics arise at school, on advertisements, or anywhere else she might see/hear/read something on these topics. Thank the Lord, my desire was fulfilled and we did have a wonderful, God-honoring, and beautiful time together. My little girl is growing up, and I am so thankful to be able to walk her through her milestones!
