Forgiveness

This morning was "one of those mornings". There was crabby, whining, selfishness early on, and we fed off each other.  I felt myself losing my patience and I did not like how any of us...including myself...sounded.  I could list off the "little" things that went wrong, but really, it doesn't matter.  By 10am I was wishing for a re-do....that we could all just get up and start the morning over!

Attempting to burn off the impatience and frustration on the treadmill, I had the time to think about how the morning was going, and immediately knew what I needed to do.  Sending up a silent prayer, I hopped off, pulled my dear Summer close (as close as she would want to come given my sweaty state), and asked her to forgive me for being crabby and speaking to her in a not-nice way.  Her eyes lit up and immediately she said, "Mommy, I forgive you!"  To which she later emphatically added on, "Mommy, I really forgive you."

Oh, what a sweetheart.

Then, I did what I have my kids to do when they do something wrong...and that is, right then and there, pray for God to forgive me.  As they watched, I prayed for God to forgive me.  It made all the difference in the world in our day.  Literally, moods changed.  Whining/fighting turned into cooperation.  Grim faces turned into smiles.  Dread of an awful day turned into hope of a pleasant day.

We had a fresh start!

I am so thankful for God's forgiveness, and I am also so grateful for my husband and kids' forgiveness.  This week's verse of the week was from Colossians 3:13, "Forgive as the Lord forgave you."

Here is the video of each of the kids saying their verse this week...how appropriate!

If you ever have a day .... like "one of those days"...its never too late for a fresh start!

I love this Kel! Rowan and I had one of those mornings this morning. After we prayed about it, we both went back and laid in our beds for 5 minutes, hopped up and started our morning new. :) Thanks God for forgiveness!
