Paul won two tickets to the Wild game through Twitter! They were really nice tickets too!!!! So, on Tuesday night Paul and I had a date night. Two of my amazing Young Life girls did a great job of keeping Summer entertained. Here are a few pics of our night.

Summer being kept entertained by some awesome babysitters!
More fun!
In other news, Summer has been eating like crazy! I wonder if she is going through a growth spurt? Paul took this picture the night she ate two carrot cubes, two squash cubes, finished off her applesauce, and downed half a banana!
Grandma and Grandpa Kirkwood came for a visit. Grandma visited my cousin Alison and her family in Arizona last week, and Alison sent along two special gifts for Summer: a little photo album and a large inflatable rolling tube-ball. Summer loved the tube-ball! Here is a video of her playing with it with Grandma and Grandpa. Thank you, Alison!
Over the past few weeks, Summer has been getting better and better at keeping her balance while sitting. I like letting her sit inside the boppy pillow, just in case she does tip over, so that her fall is softer!
Here is a video of her playing while sitting all by herself.
She looks pretty proud of her accomplishment! :)
It has been really fun introducing new foods to Summer. While the first week was a bit frustrating (she threw a few tantrums at eating from a spoon!) we are doing much better! For lunch she usually eats rice cereal mixed either with bananas or applesauce. For dinner, carrots and squash are usually on the menu. It is so cute to watch her lean toward the spoon when she wants more! I have been enjoying the website Wholesome Homemade Baby Food learning how to make and freeze different types of food. I had never eaten, much less bought or prepared, squash before and this website walks you through all the steps. It surprised me how easy it is, and its nice to save a little money, as baby food jars add up so quick!
Sorry I haven't posted in a while! Here are a couple tries at a picture with daddy and our wiggly kids, and then I'll tell you about our Valentine's Day weekend!
We had a fun first Valentine's Day with our little Summer. It started this weekend when Daddy and Summer went out on a date to pick out flowers for Mommy. Summer chose ones that had pink and red and white. Then Daddy helped Summer finger paint a Valentine for Mommy. (Yes, Summer actually finger painted the words with Daddy's help!) Mommy loved it!
On Saturday evening, Paul and I were going to go out to a little Italian restaurant we went to while we were dating, and Grandma and Grandpa were going to watch Summer, however she came down with her first little temperature (100.7). Nothing big, but she just wanted to cuddle and be held and we decided to stay home with her. After she went to bed, we got take-out and rented a redbox movie and had a great "plan B" celebration!
On actual Valentine's Day, Mommy and Summer went to a Mom's Club Valentine's Day party with lots of fun treats, a pinata, face painting, and more! We have really been enjoying being involved with the Apple Valley chapter of Mom's Club and both Mommy and Summer have met lots of new friends!
One of Summer's new favorite toys is her exersaucer because she can stand and bounce and move! Here is a video of her playing in it.
Today Summer went in for her 6 month check-up. She is very healthy! She is starting to fall more into the percentiles for weight/height that I would have anticipated with the genes of her relatively small parents :), as she is now in the 39th percentile for height and 43rd for weight. (She used to be in the 70-80th percentile!).
In short, our little girl is 25.5 inches tall, 15lbs 11.8 oz, and has a head size of 43.2 cm (70th percentile). And, an extra serving of adorably chubby cheeks :)!!!!
Here are some pictures of her this weekend when we went up to my parent's cabin to celebrate my dad's birthday.
She LOVES this exersaucer because there are lots of things to look at/play with and she can stand up to play!
Look at me!
I'm taller than daddy!
Talking with her hands!
I love bath time!
After bath time each night, daddy and Summer do a "diaper dance" in front of the mirror!
Wow! It is amazing to think we met our little Summer half a year ago! And it is funny to think back to last year at this time when we were just finding out that she was a girl :). So much can happen in a year!
6 months is definitely my favorite age so far. She is so interactive, smiley, and really much more good-natured than even a few weeks ago. She can now keep herself entertained with her hand, her foot, or anything that moves or lights up. She loves to grab for things and shake things. And she gives out soooo many smiles! Every time Paul comes home from work she smiles from ear to ear when she sees him, and I love getting her up from a nap and watching her expression light up when she sees me! She is definitely still in constant motion when awake and squirmy when we read books, but there are still a few cuddle moments when she will snuggle in...even if it is only for a few seconds! I would describe her as full of energy, alert, curious, happy most of the time, and full of adorable personality!
I took her in to JCPenney for her 6 month pictures and should hopefully get the pictures back sometime next week. Click here to see her pictures.
To celebrate her six month birthday, Summer got to have carrots for the first time! :) Here are a few snapshots...there is video below.
Today I took lots of video to document her first half birthday. Here are a few...
