Colton's 1st Birthday (Kiddie Party)

We had quite the crazy time scheduling Colton's kiddie birthday party---after being sleeted and snowed out twice, today was the 3rd "reschedule" date!  We chose to do a park birthday party, because at this age Colton LOVES climbing, slides, and swings.  We also chose to have a lot of Colton's favorite snacks at the party, including goldfish crackers and animal crackers.  We did a "double party" with Colton's friend Ian, who turned one just 3 weeks after Colton did.  Kaity and I had a lot of fun planning the party together!  She made adorable matching shirts for the boys that say, "I dig being 1".  Thanks, Kaity!!  Here are a few pictures....

Silly kiddo faces, but I can't pass up posting a picture that has all four of us in it :-)
Ms. Kaity made a DELICIOUS 1 cake!
Here is a video of us singing to Colton and Ian:

We are so thankful to have so many people come share our day with us including Colton's buddies and Summer's friends!
Some of Colton's buddies that share the "little sibling of my sister" title!  Mommy and Summer met their mommy's and sisters in ECFE when Summer was born and we have been friends ever since!  From L to R: Rylan (9 months), O'Neal (4 months), Brody (6 months), Ian (1), Colton (1), Amelia (6 months)

Colton's buddy Kellen (9 months), from church
Summer eating cake with some of her friends: Max, Lilly, Adry, Summer, Faith, Noelle,  and Brandon

More of "the big kids": Leyla, Adelyn (Ians' big sister!), Addison, Carolyn, and Lilly

Summer loves cake!

Colton tried to stuff the whole piece in his mouth at the same time!

Delicious!
YUM.

What are you looking at?  This cake is amazing!
What a fun day!  Thank you to everyone who came to help us celebrate our little guy's birthday!

Colton's first steps!

Colton has been scaling furniture and walking with his walker for months, but he prefers to crawl and will immediately drop to his hands and knees if he is not holding onto something.  Now that the snow is melted, and we are outside more, we discovered that he does not like the feel of grass on his hands when he is crawling so he prefers to walk when we are outside.  Today (when he had the comfort of holding his fleece jacket which feels similar to his blankie), he took his first steps!  Here are some clips of him walking, standing, falling, and more walking....!

Summer Flower Girl

We got a (short) video clip of Summer finishing her walk up the aisle as flower girl in Auntie Kristin's wedding.  We were so proud of how she smiled, walked slowly, and dropped the petals so evenly.  If we get a longer video from the videographer, I will post it, but until then this is a fun memory :)
