A "long lost" video from Summer's birthday!
When Summer goes to bed, Paul and I will often go look at pictures and videos of her from the past! This video was never posted, but it is definitely a winner! Enjoy!

Walking in the leaves
Yes, I am a very excited first time mom, and want to constantly video Summer now that she is walking!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is so much fun and I am so excited, can you tell?!?!? She took off down the sidewalk today! Anyway, here are two more videos of her today walking in the backyard through the leaves. I am not sure who is having more fun with this walking thing, Summer (with her huge grin that she is walking by herself) or her mommy!
WALKING!
Our Baby can walk!!!!! :-) While at this point she still prefers to crawl, she can walk on her own and chooses to multiple times throughout the day. Here is a little progression of her walking....
1) Ever since she was one month old she had strong legs that she would hold her weight on.
2) At 2 months she was putting one foot in front of the other and "walking" as we held both of her hands.
3) At 11 months she dropped one of our hands and started walking just holding one hand.
4) At 12 months she took her first series of 2-3 steps in between mommy and Grandpa Tommerdahl at the trailer.
5) At 12.5 months she took a total of 12 steps in a row between mommy and Grandma Kirkwood at the park.
6) Yesterday, September 21st, (13.5 months) Summer and I were reading books together (which consisted of her going to get a book, coming to sit in my lap, us reading the first page, and then her going to get another book to do the same thing with!). She would scale the couch as she went to get another book and then walk 2-3 steps to me to sit in my lap on the floor. Each time she brought me another book, I would scoot back so she had to walk one more step! This gave her the confidence that she could walk, and later that afternoon she took off by herself around the house taking 80+ steps! Throughout the afternoon and evening I "caught" her walking all over the place! So, this morning I decided to get video of it. Here is a short video of her walking from her shopping cart to the stairs.
YAY Summer! :)

A few updates
Hi everyone! Sorry it has been a while since our last post! Meanwhile, it has turned to fall here in Minnesota, and as much as it is sad to see the summer end, the crisp fall air is very refreshing! We have been staying busy with lots of playdates with Summer's friends, jogs with Rachael and daughter Adry, trips to the library for both books and baby story/song time, Bible study, tutoring, and lots of home projects and yard work. Because the previous owner of our home was a landscaper, our yard had MANY MANY MANY MANY mulch areas literally COVERED in plants and weeds. This year we decided to try to minimize our future work load by pulling out many of our plants and turning quite of few of our mulch areas into grass. This has turned out to be quite the task, especially when combined with all of the trimming and weeding of the plants we are keeping! Our goal is to get as much of this done as possible before the leaves fall, because then comes the large task of raking. However, I am kind of excited for the leaves to fall this year because I think it will be fun to play in the leaves with Summer!
Lately Summer has been developing quite the personality! She definitely shares her feelings with me ;)---when she is excited about something you can tell.... limbs moving, eyes sparkling, excited sounds and breathing....! And when she is mad you can tell.....the tantrums have started! We had our first public tantrum in Walgreens today when I told her she couldn't something! At 13 months she is exuberant, a talker, in constant motion, never boring, and I couldn't love her more!
Here are a few videos of Summer since I haven't been very good at taking pictures lately! The first is of her reading me her library books. The second is of her playing with daddy. Enjoy!

Labor Day Weekend
For Labor Day Weekend we drove to my parents' cabin in Shell Lake. We had a ton of fun! It definitely is starting to feel like fall weather--definitely getting chillier! Here are a few pictures thanks to Grandma Kirkwood who took all of them! (They uploaded really out of order but hopefully you can see a snapshot of our weekend)
