Wrapping Up February

As I write this post, we are on day 10 of the flu in our family.  Needless to say, we haven't gotten out much in the second half of February.  We have together been disappointed as we cancel events, play-dates, family gatherings, lessons of various kinds, special outings and more.  Some of the biggest disappointments were not getting to see our new cousin since his first day home, Summer missing her 2nd grade concert and solo, the girls missing out on the church's family night at the roller rink, and missing a special grandpa/granddaughter dance lesson, to name a few.  That's life, I guess.  Lessons are learned through disappointments and more family together time is found when the calendar is completely cleared 10 days in a row!  With that being said, I do have a few pictures I'll post before the calendar rolls from February to March!

Summer and I went bowling on our Tuesday date

We got to spend time with Teddy on a day the kids had off school!

Our friends gave us four wristbands to rides at MOA for Christmas so we got to bring Teddy along!

Colton and I went to the roller rink while the girls were home sick  - he started to get the hang of skating!  Here is a video.

Larkyn bumped up a level in swimming lessons!

The weather is warming up (in the 40's this week!) and hopefully we will be all healthy again soon.  March is just around the corner!!!

A new cousin!!

We were absolutely thrilled to meet our new cousin, Charles (Charlie) Peter, born February 13th to Kristin and Eric.  He is adorable!!!!!!  We all love him!!!!

Larkyn and I went to visit Charlie after he came home (when the big kids were in school).  We are so excited to live close to him and Teddy and hope to visit lots and lots!

Colton's Spiritual Birthday

We celebrated Colton's 3rd spiritual birthday!  Three years ago, Colton understood he was a sinner and asked Jesus to take away his sins.  While his understanding was more limited then vs now, he has continued to grow in his faith in Jesus and hasn't looked back!  Every year since then, on February 2nd, we celebrate and look back on Colton's faith journey.  As part of our spiritual birthday tradition, Colton got to pick and cook dinner for the family as well as receive one gift that encourages him in his faith walk.  Here are some pictures from the evening:

Colton received a book of devotions for boys (which we have both loved!) for our morning devotion time together before school.  He also got a sweet note from Summer saying she was praying for him and some money to the Christian bookstore.  We love you Colton!
